ESCANABA---Escanaba High School senior Lenny Peacock officially signed his National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Western Michigan University, fulfilling a dream to play at an NCAA Division One school.
Peacock signed on the dotted line at a celebration attended by his family, Eskymo teammates, and his ISA summer league pitching coach who drove up from Wisconsin.

“I had quite a few other opportunities, but Western Michigan feels like a very homey environment,” Peacock said. “The coaches are amazing. It's really kind of a family culture there. I've got great teammates that are also in my class right now. I got to meet them and everything, as soon as I took my official visit there, just kind of felt right.”
Peacock has been the mainstay in the Eskymo pitching rotation since his freshman year, so this 2026 high school baseball season will be his fourth in an Eskymo uniform.
“I wake up every day and just try to get better every day,” Peacock said. “Whether it's going to lift, whether it's doing mobility (training), whether it's throwing. I like to work hard even when other people aren't. I'm super-excited because I think our (Eskymo) team is going to be great. We're going to get all of us in the weight room in January and doing whatever we can to get better and make a deep playoff run this year.”
Peacock is the latest Eskymo baseball player to sign with a Division One university, following in the footsteps of Jared Hanson and Kurt Lauscher, both of whom pitched at Central Michigan University.
