The two-time defending state champion North Central Jets had their 28-game winning streak come to an end Friday night with a 66-58 overtime loss to the Forest Park Trojans. Connor Bartolini scored seven touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime, for the Trojans. Hunter Riley threw five touchdown passes and ran in another score for NCA.

Escanaba High School sophomore Gabi Salo has made a verbal commitment to play softball for the University of Wisconsin. The Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores Major Boys (age 10-12) finished their Little League World Series journey on Monday with an 11-7 win over Emilia, Italy, in Williamsport, Pa. GPWS, which won its Michigan State Championship in Gladstone, fell behind, 6-0, in the top of the first inning but scored seven runs in the bottom half, three of them on a home run by Jordan Arsenault.
