The Escanaba Junior Girls finally ended their long journey home on Monday, and were warmly received at a community celebration at Lemmerand Park. It's been five months since the Carney-Nadeau boys basketball team made a surprising run to the Class D state semifinals, pulling upset after upset along the way. The Escanaba Eskymos have opened a new era in high school football as Jim Hansen has taken over as the new varsity coach. The All-Star season came to an end for the Delta County Junior Boys on Tuesday as they lost a game on the field, and then lost on a calculator. The boys fell to LaGrange, Ky., 6-3 at the Central Regional in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and then lost a "runs allowed" tiebreaker by 2/1000ths of a percentage point and were eliminated.
