Escanaba Midget BB Hockey Splits With Marquette
MARQUETTE - The Escanaba EMP Midget BB hockey team split a pair of CUP League games on Saturday, against Marquette Togo's/Bjork & Zhulkie Midget BB hockey team. EMP won the first game 4-2. In the first period, Noah Olsen, fired a hard shot, on a break-away, to score first for EMP. Marquette tied up the game in the second period with a goal scored by Allister Henderson, assisted by Tyler Blight and Kyle Smith. In the third period, Marquette pulled ahead, with a goal scored by Hayden Tadgerson, assisted by Eric Farley. EMP answered back, with Olsen scoring his second goal of the game, assisted by Aaron Young. Alex Valentine scored the go ahead goal for EMP, assisted by Christer Carne. EMP's final winning goal, with just seconds to go in the game, was scored by Young, assisted by Olsen. EMP lost the second game 4-2. Both teams were even, after the first period of play. In the second period, Olsen scored the first goal of the game, assisted by Young. Marquette struck back, however, by scoring two goals. Their first goal was scored by Kyle Smith, with their second goal scored about three minutes later from Bryant Holmgren. In the third period, Henderson scored for Marquette. EMP scored with four minutes to go, from a goal by Carne, assisted by Jake LaFave, making it 3-2 Marquette. Marquette then scored their final goal from Farley, for the win. All four of Marquette's goals were unassisted. EMP is back in action, next Sunday, at the Hannahville Ice & Turf Complex, with two games at Noon and 3 p.m. against Manistique. |
