EMP Midget Hockey Drops Two Games To Calumet

ESCANABA - The Escanaba EMP Midget BB hockey team lost two games against the Aspirus Calumet Midget BB hockey team in CUP League action Saturday at the Hannahville Ice & Turf in Wells.
EMP lost the first game 8 to 4. Calumet's Travis Bessonen scored first, assisted by Joey Curtis. Curtis then scored, assisted by Christian Peters and Bessonen.
It was Calumet 2 to 0, at the end of the first period.
Calumet scored four more goals, in a row, before EMP got on the board. Clay Larsen scored, assisted by Curtis. Bessonen scored, with Curtis assisting for the third time, getting the playmaker. Larsen then scored his second goal, assisted by Christian Peters. Mark Bennett scored next for Calumet, assisted by Tristian Mickalich.
Curtis scored his second goal of the game, with Peters contributing his third assist, a playmaker, along with Dalton Peters. At the end of the second period, it was Calumet 8, EMP 1.
In the third period, EMP did all of the scoring. EMP's Noah Olsen scored, assisted by Cody Vandermissen and Zeke Strand. Jacob Lafave scored his first goal of the season for EMP, with Murray credited for his second assist of the game, along with Christer Carne. Zach Versailles scored EMP's final goal, with Olsen and Strand, both getting their second assists of the game.
The final score was Calumet 8, EMP 3. EMP had 7 minutes of penalties, including a game misconduct. Calumet had 8 minutes of penalties in the game.
EMP lost the second game 12 to 3.
Calumet continued their strong scoring performance in the second game. In the first period, Calumet scored four goals, with Chett Hillstrom scoring three of the four goals, for his hattrick, assists coming from Curtis, Larsen and Drew Harris. Curtis also scored, assisted by Allen Hodge. At the end of the first period, it was Calumet 4 to 0.
Calumet scored the first two goals in the second period. Bessonen scored with Hillstrom assisting. Hillstrom scored next, with Curtis contributing his third assist of the game, a playmaker, along with Mark Bennett.
Olsen scored for EMP with a beautiful top-shelf goal, assisted by Strand and Weinert. Christian Peters scored for Calumet, assisted by Hodge. Hillstrom, then scored his fifth goal of the game, assisted by Curtis, and Hodge getting his third assist of the game, a playmaker. At the end of the second period, it was Calumet 8, EMP 1.
In the third period, Calumet's Hodge scored, with Bennett contributing his second assist of the game. Murray scored for EMP, from a nice pass by Carne. Carne then scored, off an assist from Justin VanDrese. Calumet's Curtis scored his third goal of the game, a hattrick, assisted by Hillstrom, getting his third assist of the game, a playmaker.
Hodge scored his second goal of the game for Calumet, assisted by Christian Peters. The final score was Calumet 12, EMP 3.
EMP goalie Garrett Parlett had 40 saves in the game, while Calumet's goalie Kyle Archambeau had 31 saves.
EMP had 8 minutes of penalties in the game. Calumet had 9 minutes of penalties.
