Escanaba Girls Stop Negaunee In Marathon Match
ESCANABA---The Escanaba High School volleyball team battled back from a game down to beat the Negaunee Miners, 3-2, in the Eskymos' home opener Tuesday at the Escanaba Gym. The match went back and forth all night long. Negaunee won the opening game, 25-16, before the Eskymos tied things up, 25-22. The Miners took the third game, 25-19, but the Eskymos forced a decisive game by winning the fourth game, 25-19. Then the Eskymos won the match, 18-16. Paige Wendt had 14 kills and Jeny Brandt added 13 kills for the Escanaba offense. Clare Lalonde had eight kills. Morgan Heidt led with 19 assists and Sam Henderson added 17.
