Escanaba, Gladstone VB Fall In Menominee County
MENOMINEE---The Escanaba High School volleyball team lost a Great Northern Conference match against the Menominee Maroons, 3-2, Thursday afternoon in Menominee. The match went back and forth all afternoon, with the Eskymos winning the first game, 25-17, and the Maroons winning the second, 25-19. The Eskymos regained the lkead with a 25-17 win in the third game, but Menominee won the fourth game, 25-19. The Maroons then won the decisive fifth game, 15-12. For Escanaba, Maddy Willis led the way with 13 kills, Sam Henderson had 18 assists, and Malary Hiney had eleven digs. STEPHENSON 3, GLADSTONE 2---The Gladstone Braves got off to a good start against the Stephenson Eagles Thursday night, but could not hang on after winning the first two games. The Braves won a marathon game to begin, 27-25, then took the next game, 25-20. But the Eagles got back in it with wins of 25-21 and 25-14. Then Stephenson finished its comeback with a 15-5 win in the fifth and deciding game. Amber Lenards led Gladstone with ten kills and 12 digs. Kaitlyn Hardwick had 20 digs, while Saige Sisson added 15 digs. Chasey Williams contributed 30 set assists for the Braves.
