The Escanaba High School volleyball team rallied from two sets down for a second straight night on Tuesday, posting a 3-2 win over the Negaunee Miners in the team's home opener. The girls won the fifth and deciding set, 15-7. The win came one night after the Eskymos came from two sets down to beat Manistique Monday night. The Escanaba Cubs had their American Legion Baseball season come to an end on Friday as the Marquette Blues blanked the Cubs, 8-0, in a loser's bracket game at the state tournament. Alex DeHaan gave up four runs in the first two innings and took the loss. Ben Kleiman and Devin Olsen also pitched in relief for Escanaba. The U.P. Manistique High School graduate Mike Nagy won the Michigan Junior Amateur Golf Tournament championship Thursday in Flint. He defeated Otto Black of Pinckney Michigan 3-and-1 to win the title of the 34th annual event. The 18-year-old Nagy will attend the University of Tennessee this fall on a golf scholarship.
