WELLS---The Escanaba High School hockey team was given a police and fire escort on Friday as the boys returned home from playing in the program's first-ever state finals appearance. A group of parents and other supporters welcomed the boys at the Wells Sports Complex after the team made the seven-hour trip from suburban Detroit.
Escanaba lost to Livonia Stevenson, 3-2, in the Division Two state semifinals on Thursday, and then made the trip home on Friday...with an escort from Gladstone to the rink. The Eskymo team banquet will be held next Thursday evening.
