75 AND COUNTING: NCA Jets Overwhelm Broncos
HARRIS---The Bark River-Harris Broncos played one of their best halves of basketball of the season, and the North Central Jets went deep into their bench during a make-up game Saturday afternoon in Harris. It still didn't matter. The Broncos were within seven points midway through the third quarter, but the two-time defending state champion Jets pulled away for an 89-52 win in the regular season finale for both teams. The Jets finish 20-0, and won their 75th straight basketball game. And it looked like the same thing would happen early when Dawson Bilski and Seth Polfus banged home three-point baskets to help the Jets streak to a 12-2 lead. But BR-H battled back to within 36-29 at the half. In the third quarter, the Broncos were still down by seven with four minutes left, but the Jets went on a 15-5 run to end the quarter, making it a 60-43 ball game. And then in the fourth quarter, the Jets blew the Broncos away, 29-9. North Central had four players score in double figures, led by Bilski's 23 points. Bobby Kleiman added 19, while Polfus and Jason Whitens each added 12 points. Bark River-Harris got 15 points from Ryan Arndt, and 13 points from Logan Heim. The Class D district tournament gets under way on Monday at Stephenson High School, as the Jets take on Carney-Nadeau. Game time is 7:00 CT. The game will be broadcast live on WUPF-FM (Eagle 107.3), and on-line at www.radioresultsnetwork.com. |
