Eskymo Cross-Country Team Rolls To Another Win
MUNISING----The Escanaba High School boys cross-country team cruised to another tournament championship on Tuesday, winning the Munising Invitational at Pictured Rocks Golf Course. This is where the U.P. Finals will be held next month.Escanaba was the easy team winner with 56 points, well ahead of Kingsford's 121 and Sault Ste. Marie's 124. Eskymo senior Andrew Stenberg was second overall, finishing in 16 minutes, 32 seconds. Sault freshman Parker Scott won the race in 16:15. Escanaba's Jordan Ogren finished ninth overall in 16:56, Eric Cousineau was tenth in 17:03, and Brad Derouin finished 13th in 17:18. There were 28 teams at the tournament. Gladstone finished 15th overall with 384 points. In the girls race, Calumet was the team winner, with 64 points. Marquette was second with 79, and Menominee took third with 99 points. The Escanaba Eskymos took fourth with 109 points, and Gladstone ended up 12th with 334 points. There were 26 teams here. Marquette's Lindsey Rudden was the race winner, with a time of 18:20. Escanaba's Aimee Giese finished sixth overall at 19:48. Eskymo teammate Aubree Peterson was in 15th place, finishing teh race in 20:35. Callie Heller was 19th, in 20:41. Gladstone's Sadie Strasser was the top Brave, finishing in 21st place (20:50). The "Golden K" Cross-Country meet will be held in Escanaba's Ludington Park this Saturday, starting at 10:00 in the morning. |
