Ken Godfrey, who was involved in the vast expansion of athletics facilities at Northern Michigan University, has died. He was 64 years old. Escanaba native John Barnes was hired Friday as the new women's basketball head coach at Youngstown State University, a NCAA Division I school located in eastern Ohio. The Detroit Red Wings announced on Wednesday that Northern Michigan University goaltender Jared Coreau has signed a three-year entry level contract with the NHL team. The Upper Peninsula Sportwriters and Sportscasters Association released its All-U.P. Boys Basketball Teams early Saturday. Mid Peninsula's Brett Branstrom and Carney-Nadeau's Wade Schetter made the "Dream Team".
