The high school girls regular season came to an end Thursday night, and both of Delta County's teams dropped their Great Northern Conference finales. Governor Rick Snyder signed legislation Tuesday aimed at protecting young athletes from concussions. The law requires coaches to remove an athlete from play immediately if there is suspicion that the athlete may have a concussion. The Escanaba High School boys cross country team successfully defended its Great Northern Conference Championship Thursday by easily outdistancing the rest of the field at the Escanaba Country Club.
