Escanaba JV's Pull Away To Earn Win In Gladstone

GLADSTONE---The Escanaba Eskymos and Gladstone Braves will play three times on the football field this week, with the junior varsity teams playing Tuesday in Gladstone.

Escanaba pulled away in the second half to win, 42-16.

Gladstone quarterback Drake Forrest scored the first points of the game on a five-yard touchdown run, then hooked up with Luke VanBrocklin for a two-point pass.

The Eskymos came back on an Ethan Silverstone touchdown pass to Grant LaMarche, and then Silverstone scored the first of his two touchdowns to put Escanaba in front.

On defense, Silverstone had an interception for the Eskymos in the first quarter, and Zach Hanson had a pick for the Braves in the second quarter.

Greg Chenier and Mike Hagenbusch registered quarterback sacks for Gladstone, while LaMarche and Vinny Haslow both had sacks for Escanaba.

The freshman game between the Eskymos and Braves will be played Thursday night in Escanaba at 6:00. The varsity game is in Escanaba at 7:00 Friday night.
