Crow Handcuffs Peshtigo As Gladstone Wins Again
PESHTIGO, Wis.---The Gladstone Braves jumped to an early lead and Jared Crew scattered five hits over six innings to lead the Braves to a 13-0 win over the Peshtigo Bulldogs Friday night in Marinette County. The game went the full seven innings, with Gladstone scoring six unearned runs in the top of the seventh inning to turn a 7-0 game into a 13-0 rout. Carson Shea threw the bottom of the seventh inning, allowing one hit but no runs. Shea had the Braves' first RBI of the game when he drove in a run with a check-swing single in the first inning. Before that play, Braeden Lamberg beat out a bunt single and scored on a wild pitch. Owen Hanson's ground out brought home the Braves' third run. Lucas Weinert, fresh off of his huge day at the plate Thursday against Marquette, was back at it on Friday. His two-out, two-run single in the fourth inning made it a 5-0 game. Ben Schwalbach smoked one to the center field fence for an RBI double in the fifth inning, then the Braves scored six runs in the seventh inning as Peshtigo made a couple of errors on the infield. Cooper Cavadeas and Daniel Martin both had run-scoring hits in that inning, and then Weinert came up with another two-run single as the Braves batted around. Gladstone had ten hits in the game, although they hit into two double plays. Reliever Brock Bero threw a good enough game, going 6 1/3 innings, but errors behind him cost him seven unearned runs. Gladstone (12-3) has won five games over the last three days. The Braves are home on Saturday for a doubleheader against Iron Mountain. Game time is 10:00 a.m. ET, then the boys get ready for their junior/senior prom. There is no radio coverage for Saturday's games. The Braves will host Norway on Monday, and that doubleheader will be broadcast on WCHT-AM (600).
