Indian River Inland Lakes Rolls To Semifinal Win

EAST LANSING---The Inland Lakes Bulldogs are going back to the state championship game. And this time, the girls are planning for a different result than last year's.

The Bulldogs pounded Kalamazoo Christian, 9-0, in an MHSAA Division Four state semifinal game at Michigan State University.

Cloe Mallory pitched a complete game four-hitter, striking out nine batters. She also went 2-for-2 at the plate, and was on base four times as Mallory was also walked twice.

Indian River (34-5) scored three runs in the first inning, and scored two more in the fifth inning on a home run to right field by Madison Milner. In the sixth inning, the Bulldogs added three more runs, with two of them scoring on a hit by Vanessa Wandrie.

The icing on the cake was a solo home run by Makayla Henckel solo home run.

The Bulldogs had 14 hits in the victory. Left fielder SydneyDePauw had three hits in four at-bats. Pamela Braund added two hits, as did Mallory, Wandrie, and Milner.

Jayme Koenig took the loss in the circle for Kalamazoo Christian (23-18), allowing eight runs on 12 hits. They stranded eleven base runners against Mallory.

Indian River advances to the MHSAA Division Four state championship game on Saturday, which the girls lost last year. The girls will face Ottawa Lake Whiteford at 3:00.
