Kingsford Boys Shake Off Sluggish Start; Win 23-5
GLADSTONE---The Kingsford Major Boys (age 11-12) Little League team got off to a slow start, but roared back to beat Munising, 23-5, Monday night in Gladstone. Early on, Munising pitcher Kane Nebel had his team in good position, striking out two batters in the first two innings and keeping Kingsford's potent bats under control. And Haydon Rockhill ripped a shot to the fence to give Munising a 2-0 lead. Ashton Wymer followed with an RBI base hit to give Munising a 3-0 lead. The rains that postponed this game on Sunday returned for the early innings of Monday night's game, but the kids played through it. And the Kingsford boys rolled after that sluggish start. The Maize and Blue will play in the district championship game Thursday night in Gladstone. Munising will play either Iron Mountain North or Norway on Wednesday. Those two teams will play in Gladstone Tuesday night. Click the thumbnails in the ARTICLE HIGHLIGHTS above to see photos and videos from the early part of Monday's game. |
