Escanaba, Munising 9/10 Boys Get District Wins
ESCANABA---The District Ten 9/10 Boys Minor Baseball district tournament began on Friday and the Karl Dickson Field scoreboard had a lot of activity.
The Escanaba All-Stars outlasted Schaffer, 16-6, before Munising scored eight runs in the fourth inning to top Tri-County, 13-3.

In the first game, Tyler Lawson had a triple, two singles, a walk, and scored three runs to lead Escanaba. Jaden Gravelle was three-for-three plus a walk, amd Ayden Hanson was the winning pitcher on the mound. For Schaffer, Zack Robinette had a double and a single.
In the second game, Munising led Tri-County just 5-3 in the fourth inning. But several errors, a couple of walks, and some timely Munising hits gave the Orange and Black the Alger County battle, 13-3.
Pitcher Anthonty Matson had two doubles for Munising, while teammate Dayne Murk had a triple. Josh Houtari-Wolfe had the base hit that scored the final run of the game.
Those were Munising's only four base hits of the ballgame, but they brought home runs.

For Tri-County, Makayla Hall and Hayden Santuf both had hits in the second inning, and Zack Englund had a double and Trevor Hansen a single in the third inning.
Schaffer will face Tri-County Saturday at 5:00, while Gladstone and Munising will battle in the 7:00 game. Escanaba is off until Sunday afternoon.
In the western half of the bracket Friday, Norway topped Iron County, 7-2. The Iron Mountain North vs Kingsford Minor Boys game was a late one under the lights at Marion Park, and the score has not been reported.
