Bombs Away! Delta County Boys Headed To States
WELLS---Sean Bissell had a pretty good day on Sunday. Bissell woke up to news that Little League International in Williamsport had overturned Saturday's ruling that had taken a home run from him. Then he went out on Sunday and hit two more bombs, including a grand slam, to lead the Delta County Junior Boys (age 13-14) to a 20-2 win over Ishpeming in the sectional championship game.

And not to be outdone, Brandon Punzel also hit a home run Sunday to go along with the two that he hit in Saturday's win, which is now a final score of 11-5. Ishpeming actually had the lead in this game. Dylan Sundberg hit a solo home run in the top of the first inning. But in the bottom of the inning, Ishpeming's pitchers couldn't find the strike zone, issuing seven walks, including four with the bases loaded. Punzel had an RBI single during that first inning, Jake Peterson had a two-run single, and Bissell had a line shot for a single. That inning saw 13 boys come to the plate, and Delta County had an 8-1 lead. In the second inning, Delta County scored two more runs, with Peterson getting a sacrafice fly to make it a 10-1 game.'
Brandon Punzel also hit a home run.
Bissell came up again and launched a grand slam home run, his second "slam" of the All-Star season, and his fifth home run in four games. That made it 18-1, and then Punzel came up and ripped a home run of his own, capping a nine-run third inning. Delta County's final run came in the fourth inning when LaMarch hit a sacrafice fly. He ended up with four RBI, Peterson drove in three, and Punzel had two RBI. But the big story was Bissell, who was 3-for-3 with a walk, two homers, and six runs batted in. Delta County took advantage of 14 walks and three hit-batsmen in the game.
Hunter Garling was the winning pitcher.
